the clouds here are a heavy, heavy grey
unafraid of their weight.
they unloaded their tears like bombshells.
the land is unafraid, too. it drank the
bombshells like a thirsty, thankful
ocean of green.
the mountains are strong,
not like body-builders or
wrestlers or athletes, but strong
like hard-working men and women.
my heart is smaller. we all are.
like sponges we try to soak in
tufts of grass, triangles of
mountain tops and wisps of
royal rain clouds.
i don't want to understand this place.
i just want it to fill me up.
i want to stare into the rays of the sun
forever
and not have to look away.
