Thirty-Eight

the thunder rumbles like the
tabla, coursing through my
jingling veins.

i am dancing
facing the mountains.
up there on Kailash i think
he can see me. he watches
with that cunning, thin smile,
fuzzy leopard skin wrapped
around his dancer's body.

the thunder rumbles like the
tabla, coursing through my
jingling veins.
he is dancing now:
the world blinks in awe;
lightning showers in applause.
