Seventeen

they(someone) is
playing Green Day
at the airport and
he's singing You
and I... and the
words don't matter
because this is just
a movie scene with
people sitting and
dragging their carry
-ons across scratched
gray tiles and nothing'
s ever built to last, you
're in ruins there the
Green forest green
Starbucks is glowing
white and that woman
is Indian skinned will
we be on the same
flight I wonder if
airports will ever be
anything more than
loudspeakers and
fragments of the world
in transit and if
everyone has already
taken off (dreams in
their luggage, hidden
in that mysterious
place where luggage
sleeps) before
boarding their plane

  1. I like this piece - seems to capture how (my) mind thinks while stumbling through the airports of my life.
