Eight: Triolet

Definition: a triolet contains 8 lines, with the following rhyme scheme: ABaAabAB, where the capital letters indicate repeated lines. There is no specified meter or syllabic count.

Family Dinner

a rich, purple olive hides an ashen pit, dying:
"we are nibbling our way out- To Freedom!" we say.
if our genes are matching, why are our bellies crying?
a rich purple olive hides an ashen pit, dying.
(i am old, weary and full) the mother is sighing,
"Do you think this plate could be prepared in any other way?"
a rich, purple olive hides an ashen pit, dying:
"we are nibbling our way out- To Freedom!" we say.
